A 21-year-old Poultney man will be back in court tomorrow to answer charges that he hit and killed an elderly man with his vehicle and then fled.

Vermont State Police say they found Paul Delorenzi lying on a bridge in East Poultney at about 9:30 a.m. yesterday. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say evidence recovered at the scene and witness statements led police them to the vehicle that allegedly hit and killed Delorenzi.

Brent V. Poczobut was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. He was ordered held for lack of $50,000 bail.

Poczobut appeared in court today, but he did not enter a plea. He will be in court again tomorrow.
