Previously unpublished lecture transcript illuminates Frost

A speech Robert Frost gave to Dartmouth College students 60 years ago is about to be published for the first time.

The Pulitzer Prize winning poet gave dozens of lectures at the Ivy League School in the 1940s, 50s and 60s, but recordings of the speeches have never been heard beyond the campus.

A transcript of his October 23, 1947, speech will be published later this month in the journal Literary Imagination.

While it may not rise to the level of a recently discovered poem or manuscript in significance, Frost lovers and scholars may learn a thing or two from the anecdotes, stories and jokes Frosts tells. The journal’s editor says it’s like Frost unplugged.
