Public Service Board fines Verizon

Vermont’s largest telephone company must pay $8 million to customers for failing to meet certain performance standards last year. Vermont regulators say Verizon failed to meet its standards in several areas, such as answering and clearing trouble calls by a certain time. The Public Service Board rejected Verizon’s excuses and has opened hearings into how the money will be returned to the company’s 260,000 Vermont customers.
