A Quebec man faces federal drug charges after being arrested in a small border town in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Fifty-two-year-old Gaetan Villemaire of Longueuil, Quebec, is accused of trying to traffic marijuana that had a street value of one million dollars. A criminal complaint was filed against him earlier this month.

U.S. Border Patrol agents say they seized 269 pounds of marijuana during the February 13 bust in the town of Holland. Two snowmobilers towing sleds crossed the international border and then loaded a white van with six duffel bags. The snowmobiles returned to Quebec. But Border Patrol agents stopped the van and arrested Villemaire after searching it.
