Governor Jim Douglas will host his counterpart from Quebec today.

Douglas and Quebec Premier Jean Charest plan to meet in St. Johnsbury at midday and make appearances later in the afternoon in Newport and Derby Line.

In Derby Line, the leaders will sign an agreement on trade, environmental and energy issues, including on renewal of the contract between Vermont’s largest power companies and the provincial utility Hydro-Quebec.

And they’ll hold a public forum at the Haskell Free Library, which straddles the international boundary between Derby Line and Stansted, Quebec.
