Trains could be rolling through Middlebury again today after crews from the Vermont Rail System finish repairs on track damaged by Monday’s derailment.

Yesterday, a contractor from Pennsylvania was righting the overturned rail cars.

And officials from the Agency of Natural Resources are continuing to try to determine if any gasoline leaked into Otter Creek from the overturned cars.

Officials say 18 cars of a 25 car freight train carrying gasoline and salt derailed Monday after the apparent failure of one of the rails.
