Rutland residents living near a proposed route of a new railroad line don’t want to give up their homes. The project is part of a plan by the city and town of Rutland to relocate the Rutland rail-yard. Officials say it would reduce rail traffic into the city.

Howard Stratton, whose parents live in the area that would be affected, says the rail line would turn the area into what he calls a “blighted space.”
