Raymond May Argue Impairment In Grandchild’s Death

The prosecution says a former nurse charged in the drugging death of her 3-month-old grandson may argue that she was impaired at the time and not criminally responsible for his death.

Pamela Raymond of Morristown lost her nursing license for diverting drugs in 1996, and is accused of giving Warren Bailey an antidepressant in 2010 to keep him quiet so he wouldn’t bother her husband while she was out of the house.

Raymond has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.

Lamoille County State’s Attorney Joel Page told the Burlington Free Press that the defense is considering whether to argue that Raymond suffered from diminished capacity at the time of her grandson’s death.

Raymond’s next court appointment is scheduled for April 25.
