Re-enactors Gather at Fort Ticonderoga

This weekend, hundreds of war re-enactors will gather in Fort Ticonderoga, New York, for the annual grand encampment and battle
re-enactment. It’s the first of several major gatherings this summer that will highlight the 250th anniversary of the French and Indian War.

The re-enactors will recreate a bloody battle that occurred outside the fort in July 1759. That’s when a large British army attacked the fort’s vastly outnumbered French garrison. Although the French were outnumbered five-to-one, they defeated the redcoats and their colonial allies in one of the bloodiest battles ever fought on American soil.
