Congressman Peter Welch won a fourth term representing Vermont, easily defeating political newcomer Mark Donka.

Welch says it’s clear that Congress needs greater bipartisanship and that he’ll do everything he can to focus on solving problems in Washington.

"And my hope is that there are more members of Congress who, after this election, are hearing the same thing I’m hearing in Vermont, and that is: ‘Peter, why don’t you guys get together and get some things done?’"

Welch is currently in the Democratic leadership in the House as a deputy whip.

He says his first priority back in Congress will be to renew efforts to bring the Farm Bill up for a vote in the House.
