A family living with 65 cats in a third-floor apartment in Woodstock must be out by Friday. But 10 cats still need homes or shelter before then. Susan Skaskiw of Vermont Volunteer Services for Animals says the apartment where the cats and the family had been living has been condemned.

Skaskiw and police found veterinarians across the state to spay or neuter, vaccinate and provide dental care for the animals. The authorities were alerted to the presence of the cats when a new tenant moved into the apartment building.
