Route 7 Re-Open After 7-Hour Standoff

An armed standoff closed part of US Route 7 for seven hours before ending peacefully.

Police said it started just after 5 p.m. Thursday in New Haven. They said it involved an intoxicated man with a firearm.

Route 7 was closed between Route 17 and Town Hill Road while negotiations went on between police and the man, whose name has not been released. The road was reopened early this morning.
