Runaway train cars derail after some anxious moments

A couple of runaway train cars caused some anxious moments in New York State earlier today.

Army officials say two flat bed cars began to roll away after they were loaded by soldiers at Fort Drum, near Watertown.

The Army couldn’t say what the cargo was, except that it was equipment headed for Iraq.

The cars rolled eight miles before derailing when they collided with a maintenance train being used by a CSX work crew.

A small fire started after a propane tank on the work train exploded.

One CSX worker suffered a sprained ankle when he rushed to get out of the way.

Businesses, homes and an apartment complex within a half-mile area of the accident were evacuated for about two hours as a precaution.
