Rutland County Teachers On Strike Plan Rally

Rutland County teachers who entered the fourth day of a strike Monday plan a rally this afternoon.

Teachers in the Rutland Southwest Supervisory Union also say they’ve accepted a federal mediator’s invitation to resume bargaining.

The teachers walked off their jobs last week, forcing five schools in the towns of Ira, Middletown Springs, Poultney, Tinmouth and Wells to close.

The dispute is centered around work rules, such as the time teachers spend with students.

Teachers have gone about two years without a contract.
