Rutland courthouse plan scaled back

The size of the planned courthouse in Rutland has been cut by a third. The state is committing just $10 million to the project, instead of $12 million. That was the cost of the original design for a 45,000 square-foot building.

Rutland officials say the new building will be filled to capacity as soon as it opens. But the state Buildings Department officials say that’s all the money the Legislature appropriated.
