Rutland officials are calling on the community’s help as they search for new ways to control drug-related crimes in the city, which has long attracted dealers from western Massachusetts and parts of New York.
Rutland aldermen and the Police Commissioner say they are focusing on reducing – if not eliminating – drug trafficking in the city.
Police Commissioner Larry Jensen tells the Rutland Herald that no amount of law enforcement will get rid of dealers if there is still a profitable market for drugs.
Instead, he says preventing drug abuse and drug-related crimes will take the effort of the whole community.
