(Host) Congressman Bernie Sanders has called for the entire Board of Trustees at Fletcher Allen to resign. He says the mismanagement at the hospital has had an impact on federal funding for health care:
(Sanders) “I can’t go back to Washington and say, ‘Increase funding for Medicare and Medicaid’ at a time when a hospital may well be wasting substantial sums of that money or in fact using it in illegal ways.”
(Host) In the meantime, Sanders says he thinks that Fletcher Allen’s board of trustees should restructure itself and make the hospital’s governance more democratic and open to the public.
