U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders says he’ll introduce legislation to block payment of the second half of the Wall Street bailout plan.

The Vermont independent opposed the $700 billion financial industry bailout when it passed, and now is hoping to limit it to half that amount.

Sanders says he worries that the Bush administration is not spending the first half of the bailout package the way Congress intended. He says the money would be better spent creating jobs by rebuilding America’s infrastructure and investing in renewable energy, rather than by keeping troubled financial institutions solvent.
