Sanders will contest Ohio electoral votes

Congressman Bernie Sanders plans to contest the Ohio electoral votes tomorrow.

Sanders will join a congressional effort seeking to reform the election process.

Sanders does not believe that Kerry won Ohio or that Bush’s electors should be rejected. He says counting the votes tomorrow gives Congress a chance to address the serious flaws in the electoral process.

If at least one senator makes a similar protest, both the House and Senate would be required to hold a two-hour debate about the election.

Neither of Vermont’s two U.S. senators plans to challenge tomorrow’s vote certifying the Electoral College tally that will formally re-elect President Bush.
