Teachers and school officials in a district that went through a teachers’ strike two and a half years ago are working to reach a new contract.

The contract for teachers at nine schools in the Chittenden East Supervisory Union in Bolton, Huntington, Jericho, Richmond and Underhill was extended after it expired July 1st.

The main issues separating teachers and school officials are pay and health care benefits.

On Monday, the two sides are expected to meet to discuss the report of a fact finder.

In May 2006, the 300 teachers in the district went on strike for six days in a dispute over similar issues.
