A former village mayor and corporate manager with a background in computer technology is challenging five-term Secretary of State Deb Markowitz’ re-election bid.
Republican Eugene Bifano, of Warren, who describes himself as semiretired, says Vermont needs to make its campaign finance disclosures more accessible, citing a 2007 report by the Campaign Disclosure Project that gave Vermont an "F."
Markowitz agrees that the online campaign finance information is no longer state of the art.
She says her office is working on a new program to get the data out there.
Overall she’s proud of her office’s web site, which she says is recognized nationally as one of the best secretary of state’s web sites in the country.
