Senate Expected To Debate Child Care Union

Vermont child care workers are trying to unionize and hope the state Senate will vote to let them do that.

Vermont Early Educators United came to the Statehouse on Tuesday to call on the Senate to take action on a bill passed by the House last year.

The early childhood education workers say they’re not pushing for the right to bargain for wages and benefits. Instead, they want to be able to bargain with the state over other working conditions including rules governing their industry.

But they say their efforts have been stalled in the Senate so far.
