Vermont State Police say the July 10th death of a 59-year-old Shaftsbury woman was murder.

State police say Constance Oxley died of a gunshot wound to the head.

State police and the Bennington County State’s Attorney’s Office are investigating the crime.

Police were called to Oxley’s home after her husband, Stephen Bolesky, called for help. When police arrived, Oxley, a former school librarian, was still alive. She died later in a hospital.

Police initially refused to give a reason for Oxley’s death.

Police say they will not be releasing any further information about the case.
