(Host) It’s been pestering the waters of Lake Tahoe for ten years, but now an invasive clam species has been discovered some 3,000 miles from those alpine waters – in New York’s Lake George.
Waters in northern New England and upper New York State were once thought to be too cold for a non-native species like the Asian Clam to survive. Now its arrival in Lake George has environmental officials concerned that it could spread into other regional waterways, including Lake Champlain.
