Smallpox vaccine postponed

State health officials decided Friday to temporarily postpone giving the smallpox vaccine to Vermonters. The decision comes after new concerns about possible fatal health risks for some people who receive the vaccine. Thirty-eight Vermonters have received the smallpox vaccination this year, with no reports of serious side effects.
