The 2013 legislative session gets under way on Wednesday.

Taking the gavel again in the House will be Shap Smith of Morrisville. Smith was first elected Speaker in 2009.

This session is again expected to be a busy one, and one that is again dominated by money issues.

The legislature will be dealing with a projected budget shortfall of between $50-70 million. Smith tells VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb that health care costs will be one of the places the legislature looks at when trying to come up with a budget solution.
