Sorrell Seeks More Time To Respond To Entergy Fees

Vermont Attorney General Bill Sorrell is asking the court for more time to respond to a motion filed by Vermont Yankee’s owners over legal fees.

Sorrell wants an extension until March 9.

Entergy wants more than $4.6 million to cover what it says were its costs in fighting off Vermont’s effort to close the nuclear plant.

Vermont passed a law in 2005 saying the Legislature had to give its approval before the Public Service Board could issue a license for Vermont Yankee to operate for another 20 years. The Legislature has declined to give its approval, and Entergy sued.

Last month, a federal judge ruled for the company.

WCAX-TV says the state has until next week to respond to Entergy’s motion about the fees.
