South Burlington To Decide On Methadone Clinic

A decision is expected on whether a methadone clinic for heroin and prescription drug addicts can open in South Burlington, near two schools.

The South Burlington Development Review Board is required to issue a decision today.

The Burlington Free Press reports that the board voted unanimously on Wednesday night not to reopen a hearing on the clinic after someone accused a board member of having an improper communication about the proposal.

The clinic was at first approved and then appealed by the South Burlington School District which argued that the facility could bring crime and traffic to the proposed site near the city’s high school and middle school.
