In Springfield, Illinois, and Springfield, Massachusetts, they’re saying D’oh! But in Springfield, Vermont, they’re celebrating.

The southeastern Vermont community has been declared the winner among 14 communities of the same name nationwide that competed for the title of the official hometown of the Simpsons, of TV comedy fame. It will get to host the premier of “The Simpsons Movie” on July 26.

Twentieth Century Fox ran an online poll inviting people to vote for their favorite among 14 videos submitted by the competitors. Vermont’s Springfield, which has a bowling alley, a pub, a prison and a nuclear power plant just down the road, wasn’t initially part of the contest, but a local Chamber of Commerce executive appealed to movie producer 20th Century Fox and the race was on.

In the final online vote tally, Vermont got 15,367, to 14,634 for Springfield, Illinois.
