Vermont State Police say they’ve solved the mystery of the backward bandit.
State and federal law enforcement officials say 26-year-old Matthew Maskell has been indicted on charges he robbed four Chittenden County convenience stores in January while wearing a sweat shirt backwards, with eyes cut in the hood.
State Police Lieutenant Brian Miller says investigators have been focusing on Maskell since early in the investigation.
On Monday, 20-year-old Gerald LaFlam of Hinesburg, pleaded guilty in federal court to charges stemming from a fifth robbery committed by a hooded bandit, at the Jerusalem Country store in Starksboro.
Two other people are also facing charges.
