The trial of a Newbury man arrested for heckling a Bush administration official at a graduation ceremony in St. Johnsbury last year is being postponed.
Sixty-four-year-old Boots Wardinski was set to go on trial yesterday on charges of attempted disorderly conduct. In the June 2006 incident at St. Johnsbury Academy, he allegedly shouted at former national intelligence director John Negroponte.
A jury had been picked and was ready to go. But a dispute over whether Wardinski was properly charged by police prompted Judge Harold Eaton to postpone it indefinitely, pending a ruling from the Vermont Supreme Court.
If convicted, Wardinski could get up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.
