A technical center in Rutland is going to offer high school students a course on careers in tourism.

The course, which begins at the Stafford Technical Center in August, includes instruction in resort and recreation management, business operations and management, guest services, marketing, event planning, and other topics.

The Rutland Herald reports the center is hoping to get more students interested in the field to sustain Vermont’s tourism industry, one of the major economic drivers in the state.
