The state is distributing a round of community development block grants Monday. The federal program will support handicapped accessibility, low-income housing and economic development in Vermont.
– The town of West Rutland is getting $80,000 to provide handicapped access to three floors of its town hall.
– Castleton is receiving a $30,000 planning grant to analyze an assisted living retirement community in the area.
– North Country Hospital in Newport is getting $40,000 for a feasibility study on a power generation plant there.
– And the city of Barre is getting $60,000 for repairs and improvements to an affordable housing development.
The block grant program is administered by the state Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
