State officials say they should have more information from Fletcher Allen in ten days about the latest estimates on its huge expansion project.

Commissioner John Crowley, whose department regulates hospitals, says the hospital will be filing its amended permit application. Crowley says it will be his agency’s responsibility to determine whether the state can afford the Renaissance Project. The project was approved for a little more than $170 million but has grown to as much as $370 million.

Crowley made his comments about the project before the Senate Finance Committee, which was holding a hearing on his confirmation as commissioner.
