The state is planning one of the summer’s largest tag sales next week at the State Office Complex in Waterbury.
In the next few weeks, a number of buildings in the State Office Complex in Waterbury will be demolished as part of an overall plan to renovate this space for nearly 1000 state employees.
But before that work can begin, there’s a lot of office equipment and furniture that needs to be removed from the old buildings. That’s where the giant tag sale comes into the picture.
On the first day, July 12th , cities and towns and schools will be invited to the sale. On the second day, non profit groups will be invited and the public is invited to attend on Saturday July 14th.
Ed von Turkovich is in charge of this project for the Department of Buildings. He says desks, chairs, bookcases, lamps, file cabinets, fans, air conditioners and all sorts of other office equipment will be available.
"This is all equipment and furniture in good shape and the flood didn’t touch any of the items that we’re going to be offering to the public and to our communities," he said.
Von Turkovich says the merchandise will be free to towns, schools and nonprofits, and the public will asked to pay a nominal charge.
"So we’ll be having staff on hand to help load that’s really the only requirement is that people come ready to take it with them once they’ve identified what they want." The state is scheduling a second tag sale at the end of the month if any merchandise is still available.
