The state has shut down a Londonderry pharmacy for operating without a new manager. At an emergency hearing on Wednesday, the state Board of Pharmacy suspended the license of Derry Pharmacy.
Pharmacist-manager and owner Dale Martens was suspended in May for failing to keep his controlled-drug inventory up to date. He also had been cited to appear in court on felony charges relating to regulated drugs.
The Board of Pharmacy allowed Derry Pharmacy to remain open under new management with new pharmacists to accommodate local residents. But the board says none of the pharmacists was willing to serve as manager. By law, a pharmacy cannot operate without a designated pharmacist who is licensed and in good standing with the board.
