State officials are embarking on a new push to reach about 65,000 Vermonters who have no health insurance.
In a news conference in Rutland, they announced the formation of Green Mountain Care, an umbrella name for five state-sponsored health insurance plans, including the newly launched Catamount Health.
Gov. Jim Douglas and state lawmakers say they hope an advertising blitz on TV, the Internet and in print media will help persuade those without insurance to find out which state programs they may be eligible for.
Green Mountain Care is not a new program, but it’s a new brand under which the state hopes to reach people who haven’t applied for insurance that they may be eligible for.
