State studies economic impact of tourism

The state of Vermont is commissioning a study of its tourism industry to learn how the industry affects the state’s economy. The state plans to hire someone next month with the aim of having the study completed in October.

State Tourism and Marketing Commissioner Bruce Hyde says the study will provide hard data that has been missing for years. He and others hope the findings can be used to give tourism promotion more clout in the Legislature.
