One question facing Vermont policy-makers is what to do about Vermont’s aging demographics.

Statistics show that as Vermont’s workforce ages, fewer young people are choosing to live and work in Vermont.

In 2006, a special panel was formed to study the problem, and make recommendations.

But does the emigration of young professionals merit this level of concern?

A new analysis from the New England Public Policy Center in Boston examines the statistics, and suggests that these "brain drain" fears are overstated.

Heather Brome is a policy analyst at the New England Public Policy center, and is the author of the report. She spoke with VPR’s Neal Charnoff about the issue.
