Members of a group called Moms Against Triple E are joining health officials today to highlight ways to avoid the mosquito-borne disease and the state’s efforts to fight it.

Fifty women created the group last year to raise awareness about Eastern Equine Encephalitis and to push towns in Rockingham County to create a regional plan. They say it doesn’t make sense that one town might treat for mosquitoes while a neighboring town does nothing.

Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will discuss federal assistance for state and local efforts to combat the public health threat. Senator John Sununu, who invited the CDC director to the state along with Senator Judd Gregg, also will attend the news conference in Londonderry.
