The Vermont Supreme Court says a 20-year-old Georgia man must stay in prison while he appeals his manslaughter conviction in the 2005 death of a farmer shot while sitting in his tractor.
Collin Viens is serving a one to five-year sentence. His attorneys asked the court to free him while his conviction is appealed to the Supreme Court.
But the Supreme Court said Judge Ben Joseph acted properly when he denied that request and ruled that Viens should stay in prison.
Viens was convicted of killing Rejean Lussier of St. Albans while Lussier was sitting in the cab of his tractor during hunting season.
