Republican businessman Richard Tarrant is closing in on the two million dollar mark in money he is pouring into his own U.S. Senate campaign.

Meanwhile, Tarrant’s rival for the Republican nomination, retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Greg Parke, has raised more than $600,000.

Federal Election Commission filings show Tarrant surpassed the million-dollar mark with a $425,000 payment to his own campaign on February 1st.

Coupled with earlier payments to his own campaign, Tarrant has donated about $1.67 million.

Tarrant or Parke will face Congressman Bernie Sanders in November for the seat being vacated by Senator Jim Jeffords.
