A teenager from the Rutland County town of Chittenden has been given 22 years in prison for fatally shooting his father.

The sentence imposed on 18-year-old Aaron Congdon is at the upper end of a range set in a plea deal with prosecutors.

Police say the younger Congdon shot his father Bernard Congdon at the home where they lived last year.

Police say the two had been quarreling after the youth crashed his father’s Corvette and the elder Congdon accused his son of taking money.
