Teenager says seatbelt saved her life

A teenager says she’s alive today because she was wearing her seatbelt.

Melani St. Pierre’s car veered off the road in Charlestown, New Hampshire, went down an embankment and landed on train tracks, in the path of an oncoming train.

St. Pierre says she could hear the train coming Monday night after her car came to rest on the tracks.

With her doors jammed from the crash, she crawled out a window before the train hit her car and demolished it.

St. Pierre says she’s telling her story to remind drivers that seatbelts can save lives.
