Vermont State Police say two teens have been injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident.

Authorities say a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy were driving two ATVs on a road in Weathersfield Monday when the accident happened.

They say the younger boy stopped his ATV and the older boy ran into it from behind. Both teens were thrown from the vehicles.

Officials say they were taken to a hospital. The 14-year-old was treated and released with cuts and bruises. The 17-year-old broke several bones and suffered a laceration to his liver. He’s expected to recover.

State police say neither boy was wearing a helmet. They also say the boys were illegally operating the vehicles on a roadway and as a result the owner of the ATVs will be cited.
