New York state conservation officials say that results of an initial round of sampling have shown no sign of chronic wasting disease in New York State’s wild deer population.

Tissue samples from sixty-four wild deer in central New York were sent to the state Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Cornell University to be analyzed for the disease.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says none of the samples tested positive.
