A new comic novel by Vermont author Marc Estrin follows the life of a young man with a most unfortunate name. “The Education of Arnold Hitler” begins with Arnold’s earliest memory, a lynching in his Texas hometown. The book then tracks Arnold through his years at Harvard, and his encounters with high and low society in New York City, along the way meeting Noam Chomsky, Leonard Bernstein and a young Al Gore. It’s both a coming of age story, and an examination of linguistic expression.

Marc Estrin lives in Burlington, and recently spoke with Neal Charnoff about his new book.
