Fall is an annual treat for those of us who live here year round, and a reason for a weekend splurge at a B&B for our leaf-peeper visitors. And for those in the tourism industry it’s a full-out sprint to make the most of the high season.
Today we’re celebrating fall foliage in all its glory. We’re going to hear from a plant physiologist, a photographer, an innkeeper and a forester and we’d like to hear from you as well.
Paul Schaber is a plant physiologist with the USDA Forest Service in Burlington. He’s also an adjunct faculty member at UVM. Ginger Anderson is Chief of Forest Resources Management with the Department of Forest Parks and Recreation. John Perkins is co-owner of Phineas Swann Bed and Breakfast in Montgomery. And Jeb Wallace-Brodeur is chief photographer for the Times-Argus.
They spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about the science, the beauty, the business and what it takes to capture the colors of the fall foliage season in Vermont.
