This morning at 10:18 local time, people across the country have been participating in an event known as the Great Shakeout. It’s a nationwide earthquake drill designed to teach people how to react when a tremor hits.
The Northeast isn’t an official "Shakeout Region." But maybe we should be! On Tuesday evening, people around our region experienced the shaking and rolling of a 4.0 earthquake centered not far from Portland, Maine.
It rattled windows and doors and left a lot of questions-how rare was this earthquake? Why was it felt so far away? And can we expect more earthquakes in the future? After all, this was the second earthquake felt in Vermont in less than a week!
