(Host) Many towns across the state have been preparing for Town Meetings tonight and tomorrow.

Voters in Stowe will be weighing whether to spend a $6.5 million bond to build a new ice skating rink.

Stowe town manager Charles Safford says officials have tried to explain to voters how their taxes would be affected by the proposal.

(Safford) "We told them for every $100,000 in property values, this equates to about $28.20 in additional assessed value, all other things being equal, as if the grand list were flat at its highest bond payment in a given year."

(Host) The money would pay for a building to replace the existing Jackson Ice Arena.

The old arena is 37 years old and has begun to fall into disrepair. The proposal calls for a fully enclosed, 34,000 square foot building.
